Justin & Stacey

The weekdays leading up to Justin and Stacey's wedding had been absolutely gorgeous... sunny and warm. Saturday's forecast, however, was a little different. It was chilly and snow flakes were flying, which in my opinion, made for some fun March photographs.

Stacey's dress was elegant and beautiful, just like her. Justin looked pretty sharp himself:) They absolutely crack me up. Lisa, who was my second photographer for the day, and I were so excited to spend the day with such a wonderful group of people. Stacey and Justin, you have so many people that love you!

Justin and Stacey were married at Trinity Lutheran in Grand Rapids. We headed downtown to brave the cold and snow (thanks wedding party for hanging in there!) and then the celebration continued at St. George's.

Winter is Melting Away!

This sunshine has been amazing these last couple weeks! The West Michigan forecast shows 60 degrees tomorrow... that has me so excited. My hubby is patiently waiting to get our boat out of storage and hit beautiful Lake Michigan. Nashville has been flirting with the mid 60's and near 70 too. I can't wait to get there in a few weeks and enjoy the early signs of spring!

If you know me well, you know that I am not a fan of cold weather. I'd much prefer to hibernate from November to March, but my dog Mossy and I braved the cold for a few minutes last week to get a few shots before the snow was completely melted.

Weekly Theme: Delicious Desserts

It doesn't matter how full I am... there is always room for dessert! This year I have sampled some tasty treats and seen some personalized alternatives to traditional wedding cake. Prepare to salivate...

... a cheesecake smorgasbord (cheesecake makes me very happy)

... a slice of sweet apple pie

... a vibrant yet elegant cake

... a dirt cake inspired creation

... what detail... almost to pretty to eat

... an ice cream sunday after a hot summer wedding really hit the spot

... again, the detail! I just love all the texture

... classic with a geometric flair

... and we'll finish with more cheesecake:) Individual cakes have become a popular way to decorate the tables and cater dessert. Sometimes it's rather difficult to resist the temptation of slicing into that high calorie deliciousness until after dinner though!

I have a bad case of the winter blahs and needed to revisit some warm, sunny images to remind me that spring will surely arrive! In the meantime... I'm thinking warm thoughts.

A Room With A View

One thing I love about my studio location is the view of our cute little town. The intererior is very Chicago, shabby-chic inspired, but looking out the windows at quant little Main Street and the feed mill across the intersection reminds me where I am. The studio makes a perfectly warm spot for watching the Santa Parade each year. Friends, family, and hot chocolate... a great way to start the holiday season!

Despite all the excitement and anticipation... some of us just could not stay awake to see Santa Clause.

It would not be a parade in Coopersville without a few tractors.

Professional Photographers of Western Michigan just held its annual Awards Banquet and Christmas Party at the wonderfully delicious San Chez Bistro. I'm excited and honored to have been named one of the Top 5 Photographers for 2009! Awards are earned by accumulating points from print competition, album competition, and attendance to the programs held throughout the year. Congratulations to all of the talented photographers who were recognized by PPWM!

Now Booking Weddings in Nashville, TN

Many of you know that I've fallen in love with everything about Nashville, Tennessee. Since my best friend Sarah moved there over a year ago, I've been down to visit quite frequently. In fact, I've made trip four times in the last eight months! What can I say? Sarah and I have been inseparable since second grade and I miss her dearly. Phone calls and Skype chats just don't cut it! The drive takes only nine hours... however, flying takes two days (it's a long story)!

Don't worry, Mom, there are no plans to move there yet, but I will definitely be traveling there more and more regularly. Consider this my official announcement that I will now be booking weddings in the Nashville and Franklin areas! I'm incredibly excited about growing my business in this area. My most recent trip was focused on learning more about the wedding industry and the client needs and trends in Williamson and Davidson Counties. I spent the week meeting many wonderful wedding vendors, attended a great chamber event, and visited some of the most exquisite venues I've ever imagined. Some of the most kind and helpful people have helped to make this decision very easy.

Although I had a strict schedule, I did manage to have a little fun. Sarah and I got dolled up and went to the Country Music Awards. That was definitely the highlight of my year
